WhatsApp Group Contacts Exporter — Members to Excel/CSV (Chrome extension)
Effective 29 July 2026 · Last updated 29 July 2026
The short version. The contacts you export never leave your computer. They are read and turned into a CSV entirely inside your own browser, and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
Two things can leave your browser, and only in situations you control: a message you choose to type into the feedback form, and — if you uninstall the extension — a few anonymous numbers about how much you used it.
1. Who this is from
This extension is built and maintained by an independent solo developer. For anything in this policy, contact saurav.chaudhary70@gmail.com.
This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp LLC, Meta Platforms, or any Meta product.
2. What the extension does
When you choose a WhatsApp group and click Extract, the extension reads that group's member list — from the WhatsApp Web page and from the WhatsApp Web data your browser has already stored on your own device — and formats the names, phone numbers and group roles into a CSV file you download.
It only reads groups you are already a member of. It cannot see anything you cannot already see yourself in WhatsApp. It is read-only: it never sends messages, adds contacts, or automates any action in WhatsApp.
3. Contact data you export
Exported contacts are never transmitted anywhere. They are not sent to us, not sent to any server, not stored online, not shared, and not sold. Extraction and CSV creation happen entirely in your browser.
Local storage on your device
So that a long export is not lost if you close the extension window before it finishes, the result of your most recent export is saved in your browser's local extension storage. This data:
- stays on your device and is never transmitted;
- is overwritten each time you run a new export;
- is permanently deleted when you uninstall the extension.
4. Information that does leave your browser
| What | When | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your feedback message, and an email address if you choose to enter one | Only when you type into the feedback form and press Send | EmailJS, which relays it to the developer's email inbox | To report a bug or request a feature, and so the developer can reply if you asked for one |
| Extension version, number of whole days since you installed it, number of exports you ran, and whether your last export returned fewer members than the group's stated size | Only if you uninstall the extension, when Chrome opens the feedback page | Tally, the form service hosting the uninstall questionnaire | To understand why people stop using the extension and fix what is actually broken |
Neither of these includes any contact data. No names, phone numbers, group names, or messages from WhatsApp are ever included in the feedback form submission or the uninstall page.
The uninstall information contains no name, email address, IP-based identifier, or anything else that identifies you. It is four numbers about usage. Answering the uninstall questions is entirely optional — you can simply close the page.
5. What is stored locally in your browser
- Your most recent export result — so it survives closing the extension window (see section 3).
- A count of how many exports you have run, and the date you installed the extension — used to decide when to show a feedback prompt, and included anonymously in the uninstall page.
- Whether you have already dismissed the rating or feedback prompt — so you are not asked again.
All of this lives in your browser only and is deleted when you uninstall the extension.
6. What we never do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
- We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- We do not run analytics or tracking scripts inside the extension.
- We do not read your WhatsApp messages, and message content is never collected.
- We have no user accounts, and you never need to sign in.
7. Permissions the extension requests
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
activeTab | To identify the WhatsApp Web tab you have open when you use the extension. |
scripting | To load the extension's reader into the WhatsApp Web tab if it is not already running. |
downloads | To save the CSV file to your computer. |
storage | To keep your last export and the local counters described above. |
web.whatsapp.com | The extension only runs on WhatsApp Web. |
api.emailjs.com | Only to deliver a feedback message you chose to send. |
8. Third-party services
Two services are used, and only in the narrow situations described in section 4:
- EmailJS — relays feedback messages to the developer. Privacy policy
- Tally — hosts the optional uninstall questionnaire. Privacy policy
Neither service receives any contact data extracted from WhatsApp.
9. How long information is kept
- On your device: until your next export overwrites it, or until you uninstall the extension.
- Feedback messages: kept in the developer's email inbox for as long as needed to respond and to fix the issue reported.
- Uninstall responses: kept in Tally for as long as they are useful for improving the extension.
10. Your rights
Because the extension has no accounts and stores nothing about you on any server, there is normally nothing for us to look up. If you sent feedback and want it deleted, or want to know what was received, email saurav.chaudhary70@gmail.com and it will be handled.
If you are in the EU, UK, Brazil, or another region with data protection laws such as the GDPR or LGPD, you have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection regarding the feedback information described above. Use the same email address to exercise them.
To delete everything stored locally, remove the extension from
chrome://extensions. That erases all of it immediately.
11. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use the data you export. Contact details of other people are personal data in most countries. Exporting them may carry legal obligations under laws such as the GDPR, LGPD, or India's DPDP Act, and you must comply with those laws and with WhatsApp's own terms of service. This extension does not send bulk messages and must not be used as part of unsolicited messaging.
12. Children
This extension is a business and productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting what leaves your browser will also be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
